Choose the pattern again as you fold your scarf

The border and centre of the same scarf can create two different looks. Keep your jewellery and try changing only the part of the scarf you reveal.

AI-generated scene: Linda sits in an enclosed ferry lounge wearing a dark grey cardigan and small earrings, opening a burgundy-and-cream patterned scarf on her lap with both hands. Accessories are illustrative.

You do not have to show the whole pattern

If you fold your scarf the same way every morning, you may always see the same part of its pattern. Open it out one day: is there a narrow border, or a larger motif in the centre? Choosing which part to leave on the outside is a small way to begin differently with the same piece.

With a burgundy-and-cream scarf, for example, bringing the dark border forward may reveal a simpler field of colour. Leaving the centre motif visible brings its lines and curves into view. Neither version has to be the correct one.

Keep the same earrings

Keep your small hoops, or whichever jewellery you chose that day, unchanged during the comparison. Bring the border outward first, then the centre. It becomes easier to notice whether a difference comes from new jewellery or from the part of the scarf you can see.

Arrange the scarf as you normally wear it; avoid a fold you would have to keep adjusting all day just to display the pattern perfectly. Folds may hide part of the motif. You may enjoy that everyday version too.

Compare two folds today

Before leaving, take two quick photographs with the same jewellery: one showing the border and the other the central motif. Note your choice in one sentence, such as today I liked the quieter border. The aim is to notice another part of a pattern you already own, rather than buy a new scarf.
